Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Watching | Alaska Cruise, Celebrity Cruises

Описание к видео Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Watching | Alaska Cruise, Celebrity Cruises

We arrived at our second port of call on our Alaska Cruise which was Juneau. Unfortunately we had a quite a lot of rain whilst we were in Juneau so we didn't get to explore the town, however we still embarked on our shore excursion for the day.

The shore excursion that we booked through Celebrity Cruises directly was the Mendenhall Glacier, Whale Watching and Wildlife Quest tour. This tour was several hours long and a coach picked us up from the cruise ship dock and took us to each destination.

The first stop on the tour was the Mendenhall Glacier. Here we had about 45 minutes to explore the area which was just about enough time to walk along the viewing platforms to see the glacier and to visit the gift shop. It would have been nice though to have more time in this area as it did feel a bit rushed. The glacier itself is super impressive and I don't think the video does it justice.

Next up on the tour was the whale watching and wildlife quest segment. We set off on a small boat that took us out to see the whales and other wildlife. We saw sealions, bald eagles and of course whales. Initially it was humpback whales that we saw and that's what was expected that we would see, however we were lucky enough to also see an orca. It kept popping up now and again near our boat so I managed to get a good glimpse of it. Overall it was a very fun and successful whale watching tour. The coach then took us back to the ship.

I highly recommend going on this tour! I knew I couldn't go to Alaska without seeing any whales or other Alaskan wildlife. It's just a shame I didn't get to see any bears!
