086. Real Prayascitta - Bhakti Prayascitta (no karma-bandhan) || SSGGSM || 9 June 1995 || New Jersey

- Krsna is the only true well-wishing friend of ours, suhrdam sarva bhutanama, and rest all relationships here in this material world are not real, it's temporary.

- Krsna is so merciful that even though maya-mugdha jivas are forgetgul of Him, He makes arrangement for us, sastra-guru-atma rupe apana ke janana, krsna mora prabhu trata jiver haya jnana [Cc. Madhya 20.123].

- Who understand veda-puranas? It is not that if simply one is educated, knows how to read and write can understand veda-puranas. It has to be understood in tattva, tattva-vicara. So we must approach a tattva-darsi guru instead of concocting.

- Only one who is liberated, hears from paramatma within, else one simply hears the mind and understands it to be paramatma's prompting. When one hears the paramatma within the heart, he should confirm the same from sadhu-satra-guru.

- Explaination of Srila Prabhupada's purport to BG 3.9 - Art of doing work. When one takes complete shelter and renders service to Lord Visnu or Krsna, yajna-karma, under the expert guidance of nama-tattva-vit guru, attains namabhasa, then there is no karma-bandhan. All prarabdha-karma is destroyed.

- Various pastimes from scriptures where great personalities even were bound to karma-bandhan.

- Pastime of Nalakuvera and Manigriva. Curse of Narada-muni turned out to be blessing for them and they were delivered from sthavara-yoni.

- Pastime of Nahusa who once was invited by the devatas to occupy the post of Indra but since he became puffed up, engaging brahmins to carry his palanquin, he was cursed by Agastya-rishi to become a serpent.

- Pastime of Dasyu Ratnakara, who was a very sinful bandit. He finally was transformed as Valmiki following the footsteps of Narada-muni.

- Pastime of Ajamila, how he chanted namabhasa and was saved from the clutches of feary Yamadutas. By chanting namabhasa one's all karma-phala, prarabdha-karma are destroyed and finally if one chants suddha-nama, he gets krsna-prema and goes back home, back to Godhead.

- Pastime of how Indra became a hog because of offending spiritual master of demigods, Brhaspati. Finally Brahma had to kill to Indra's (in hog body) wife and children to cut off his attachment.

- Pastime of how Subbudhi Raya was advised by pandits at Kasi to drink hot ghee in order to atone for drinking water from a Mohammedan's house. Mahaprabhu said bhakti prayascitta is the real atonement and so he must take shelter of holy name.

- Pastime from Mahabharata, how a vedajna brahmana, learned pandit, and his friends ate the food offered to a ghost and after death got ghost bodies in desert area, suffering for thousand of years. Finally they were delivered by serving and pleasing a vaisnava.
