This short video introduces Hvaldimir, the Russian Spy Whale, and explains his current problems and the hopeful solution. Visit www.onewhale.org to be a voice for Hvaldimir, and urge Norway to protect him. LITTLE WHALE LOST: In search of help from an expert to help Hvaldimir, Regina reached out to dozens of different sea life activists, scientists and whale experts. But Hvaldimir posed a challenge. He is not a “wild" whale, so cetology doesn’t fully apply. Many other “whale experts” come from the captivity world, and only have expertise in the training and care of captive animals. Whether it be SeaWorld or an aquarium, Regina drew an absolutely hard line against teaming up with anyone with ties to captivity, and that includes accepting any donations or sponsorships from captive facilities.

In her efforts, Regina was told repeatedly to “call Ric O’Barry.” She did. In doing so, Hvaldimir has found the right voice for protecting his future. Ric O’Barry is the founder and director of DolphinProject.com, and is one of the rare whale experts who is internationally known and respected for his expertise in formerly captive whales, like Hvaldimir. Ric has over thirty years of experience in protecting, relocating and caring formerly captive whales and dolphins. Ric and his team created the first ever dolphin sanctuary in Bali.

Now the team is here and ready to help Norway to take the simple steps necessary to create their own sanctuary to protect Hvaldimir. We are so glad you’re joining us at OneWhale, a place where everyone can have a voice for Hvaldimir and let the world know that this one whale matters.
