Heavy menstrual bleeding is NOT normal. They are common but not normal. As a GP, I cannot tell you how many patients I see who have endured heavy periods for a long time and some of whom are as young as teenagers!

This video is incredibly important and one I’m extremely passionate about because enough is enough - there are too many women who are suffering in silence with heavy periods and yet there are usually underlying conditions that could be attributing but most importantly there are treatment options which can help. Heavy periods could also be indicative of something more serious happening though this is rarely the case. It can also be life threatening if too much blood is lost leading to anaemia!
