Discriminant - What is it? and What does it tell you?

Описание к видео Discriminant - What is it? and What does it tell you?

High school math teacher explains in 4 MINUTES what the discriminant is and what it tells you about a quadratic function.

The discriminant is the expression under the square root in the quadratic formula, or b²=4ac. Once the discriminant is found, it can be of 3 different types:
Type 1: A positive discriminant. This means the quadratic function will have 2 solutions (or 2 x-intercepts).
Type 2: A negative discriminant. This means the quadratic function will have no real solutions (or no x-intercepts).
Type 3: A discriminant of zero. This means the quadratic function will have one solution (or one x-intercept). In this situation, the vertex lies on the x-axis.
