Windy 34 Alizé Boat Test Drive, Tour & Review | YachtBuyer

Driving comes first with Windy so we jumped at the chance to sea trial the new 34 Alizé, created in partnership with superyacht designer Espen Øino (of Dilbar fame).

In this in-depth sea trial and review, shot during the Cannes Boat Show, Jack Haines takes the 34 Alizé out in the late afternoon chop to see if it lives up to Windy’s reputation for producing outstanding driver’s boats.

There is a wide selection of single and twin engine options available running on petrol or diesel. Our test boat had a single Volvo Penta 440hp diesel engine but you can have two of those for a top speed of 54 knots!

The cockpit layout borrows a lot from the larger and rather brilliant 37 Shamal and features a large sun pad aft, which raises at the touch of a button to reveal the engine bay.

On the lower deck, there is a surprisingly comfortable open-plan four-berth layout with a decent separate bathroom and nicely finished interior.

It’s a classic sportsboat design that proves the Axopars and Saxdors of this world don’t have it all their own way.
