Peaceful Country Walk to England's Highest Single Drop Waterfall | HAWES TO HARDRAW FORCE, ENGLAND.

This delightful walk starts on the outskirts of Hawes, straight into the countryside and follows the Penine Way all the way to Hardraw village. From there we walk behind the Green Dragon pub and onto the Hardraw Force waterfall walk.

Located in the heart of the Yorkshire dales, Hawes is a peaceful little village of mellow stone buildings, shops and houses, linked by cobbled streets. A branch of the River Ure with its gushing waterfalls flows through the centre of the village.

Hardraw Force is a waterfall on Hardraw Beck in Hardraw Scar, a wooded ravine just outside the hamlet of Hardraw, 0.9 miles north of the town of Hawes, Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales. The Pennine Way long distance footpath passes close by. Comprising a single drop of 100 feet from a rocky overhang, Hardraw Force is claimed to be England's highest unbroken waterfall – at least discounting underground falls

The highest single drop waterfall in England is famous for several other reasons too, not least because of 'that' scene in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves where Maid Marion spies Robin Hood bathing under the waterfall.

The natural amphitheatre below the waterfall is the site of the annual Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival, the acoustics are amazing.

The grounds are owned by the Green Dragon Inn whose owner has been restoring them to their former glory.
