Appalachia is rich in stories but struggles economically and educationally. When the highly educated leave, how can the Appalachian community handle the brain drain panic? Tracing the classic hero's journey and empowering unique, Appalachian voices with a story invites in Appalachian natives and visitors. Lifelong East Tennessee resident, Miranda Meredith is a storyteller focused on brand communication. As a young professional, she has wrestled with competing narratives of Appalachia, finding balance through Appalachian storytelling. She is a spring 2024 graduate of East Tennessee State University, majoring in media and communications, minoring in Japanese and storytelling.
