Coney Mountain, halfway between Long Lake and Tupper Lake on Rte. 30, offers a fantastic 360 degree view after a climb of just over one mile. It is a very popular hiking destination. Less well known is the pivotal role that Coney played in the surveys that allocated land ownership in the Adirondack wilderness. The northern edge of the Totten and Crossfield Patent, now a boundary between several of the counties that make up the Adirondack Park, goes right over the top of Coney Mountain.
