Sharon Mattern Büttiker is Vice President of Publisher Relations and Content Strategy at Research Solutions, a provider of workflow efficiency solutions for R&D-driven organizations in life sciences, technology, and academia. In her role, Sharon strives to create synthesis through collaboration within the STM ecosystem by addressing the challenges of the publishing community with the goal of synergy for publishers, researchers, and copyright compliance. Prior to this position, Sharon spent nearly two decades at Karger Publishers expanding their digital content alliances. Sharon has also been a guest author on The Scholarly Kitchen blog, co-chair of the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s Membership Committee, and has contributed to the programming of various conferences, including the Charleston Conference, SSP annual meeting, and UKSG annual meeting as a panelist or moderator.

Bleu Simpson is the Rights Sales Executive at Kogan Page, a leading independent publisher of award-winning business books from global experts, helping organizations and individuals thrive in the evolving business world. Bleu joined in 2023 and is responsible for subsidiary rights sales of Kogan Page content across all territories and formats. She had previously worked as a freelance Rights Assistant at RightsZone whilst travelling and working as a barista. Her background in hospitality as a manager of a top restaurant and hotel, and experiences in customer service is an asset she brings to her role in rights sales. She loves connecting with people all over the world and match making great books with the perfect client. Bleu is energised by the role rights plays in the publishing lifecycle and is continuously inspired by the creative ways to adapt content

Julie Halfacre is the Head of Rights, Licensing and Permissions at medical publisher BMJ Group. Julie has worked in publishing for 30 years working in marketing and institutional facing roles before making the move into rights and licensing. In her current role she is responsible for global content licensing working with a wide variety of partners. While her role is commercial her focus is always the promotion of ethical and legal dissemination of BMJ content. Julie is a member of the STM Permissions Group, the ALPSP Policy Committee and an alumni member of the STM Intellectual Property Committee.

Claire Harper is Associate Director of Global Rights and Licensing at Sage, a global academic publisher of books, journals, and library resources. Claire has over 15 years of experience in the world of publishing, starting as an editorial assistant at Nature and now overseeing the licensing, permissions, and translations for Sage books and journals. As cochair of the PLS Rights group Claire is committed to sharing insights and knowledge with peers and aspiring rights professionals.

Jessica Rutt is Head of International Rights and Licensing at RCNi, a digital health information company supporting the nursing profession to deliver best practice and achieve their potential. Jessica joined RCNi in 2017 and is responsible for licensing content globally to a range of partners as well as overseeing copyright policy and best practise within the organisation. Before joining RCNi she spent more than a decade working at Nature Publishing Group and Springer Nature in Rights and Licensing. Jessica is committed to developing and supporting industry-wide initiatives that serve the academic and medical communities by disseminating research whilst also respecting copyright.
