Frecce Tricolori Flyovers of New York City

The pride of the Italian Air Force, the Frecce Tricolori, take to the skies over New York City for a series of flyovers involving all eleven jets the team brought over from Italy. These flyovers were part of the team's North American tour, their first since 1992, and included airshows all throughout North America as well as flyovers of many major U.S. and Canadian cities and an appearance at EAA AirVenture 2024. The team flies the Aermacchi MB-339 Pan, an Italian designed and built training aircraft.

This video was shot in New Jersey at Liberty State Park, which you could gather from my vantage point of the Statue of Liberty, which is seen in the video. The Frecce Tricolori recently flew two airshows in New York, one in Rochester and most recently in Montgomery (Orange County). In addition to the NYC flyovers, they also flew over Philadelphia several hours earlier, which is in a separate video. Originally, I had no intention on covering the NYC flyover but after checking driving distance from where I shot the Philly flyover to where I'd shoot the NYC flyover, it was a no-brainer, especially since the Frecce Tricolori were going to land, refuel, and add more smoke.

Comparing the two flyovers, I knew the NYC flyover was going to be flown a lot higher than Philadelphia owing to the rules of flying the Hudson River corridor along with the heavy helicopter presence from NYPD, local helicopter tour companies, and the local news. The Frecce Tricolori's final airshow appearance will be in Ocean City, Maryland, and unfortunately, I will be unable to make the trip down there to see them.
