Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker had some wacky ideas about Canada's North. Asked by Glenn Gould to contribute to a radio programme, Diefenbaker expressed a wish to dam the Bering Strait and Hudson's Bay, and to warm the water with the use of nuclear power. Cities were to be covered with a plastic dome and heated.
