New multifunctional building at Wilderness Adventures Sweden

Lots of activity the last 2 weeks at Wilderness Adventures Sweden
The actual start of this project goes back to one year ago. Preparations, creative thinking, networking, visiting and inviting (local) companies, measuring, ordering, drawings, financials and then timeframes and planning.

We had to wait with digging until the deep frost in the ground was gone and that takes a while in this part of Sweden. Local entrepreneur PO Edlund and his helper Kenneth prepared the foundation. Over 12 trucks came in at the new paved gravel road to unload tons of gravel. 60 cm of soil has been scooped out and filled with different gravel sizes and 10cm thick insulation plates. This to avoid the frost underneath and to make sure that the building stays solid on the spot. They also installed a new 3 chamber septic tank with a 8 x 2 meter filtration bed with the newest technologies. This is up to date to the latest environment regulations, so that feels great! Meanwhile the plumber prepared all the pipes, according to the drawing which I made myself.

In July 2023 I visited manufacture Sorselestugan to discuss my plans. Their team prepared all the timber and the roof plates and put it all in numbered packages. The delivery was in the beginning of April. On May the 18th my brother and his colleague/friend flew in from the Netherlands. Both are professional carpenters and work together for many years. On Sunday was the smoothening of the ground plan and adding the 6 m long concrete rims. All as tight and 100% levelled as possible. Such a fantastic teamwork that day.

Now all was prepared so well, the building up went super quick. 2 professionals and wow with such a pace!

Until the roof all the fine pine timber was stapled without any screws or nails. The traditional knuts on the edges gives a great look. The building is divided in two spaces. The right side is the service house for the RV Ground and with a bathroom for the Pioneer Cabin. The left side of the building is for my guided activities as a meeting room with a big table, kitchen, a fire stove, storage place for the winter stuff as snowshoes and the cosy loft above can accommodate one or two persons.

In two weeks another team of carpenters fly in from the Netherlands and they will build the porch, the outdoor kitchen and help with the yard in front of the building.

The plumber will build and install the showers and toilet rooms. The electrician comes in at the same time.
