Our top focus remains on South Africa as the country heads to a national election. The country could witness its tightest vote since the end of apartheid. So, election campaigning has become increasingly aggressive. A massive controversy has erupted over the opposition Democratic Alliance's election advert that shows the South African national flag burning. President Cyril Ramaphosa has called the advert "treasonous, despicable and unacceptable". Defending its election ad, the Democratic Alliance says it was intended to highlight its argument that the country is in trouble under the African National Congress. The ANC and President Cyril Ramaphosa have been under growing pressure.
