Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. On April 22nd, 1996, an adventure game called CORPSE-PARTY was published in the Spring 1996 edition of LOGIN Sofcom No.6. It was made by a 22-year-old college student by the name of Makoto Kedouin, who typically stylizes his surname as Kedwin. On February 26th, 1997, Kedwin won the grand prize in the Second Annual ASCII ENTERTAINMENT competition, netting him 5 million yen. It'd be nine years before the world saw Corpse Party again.
On October 3rd, 2006, a retelling of the Corpse Party story was released for the mobile phone under the title Corpse Party: NewChapter. This new version would later be ported to the PC as Corpse Party: BloodCovered. The game then received a remake for PlayStation Portable as Corpse party BloodCovered: ...Repeated Fear, which was later ported into iOS. Three years later, an enhanced port of the PlayStation Portable game titled Corpse Party Blood covered: ...Repeated fear. was released for Nintendo 3DS.
On September 1, 2011 Corpse Party saw a sequel, titled Corpse Party: Book of Shadows for PlayStation Portable, which further tells the story about the Kisaragi students. It also eventually received an iOS port. Since then, Corpse Party had many spin-offs, manga and light novel adaptations, OVAs, drama CDs, and live-action movies.
On August 2, 2012, Corpse Party received a romantic comedy spin-off game titled Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko's Hysteric Birthday Bash (or affectionately called Corpse Party 2U by fans) for PlayStation Portable.
On July 24, 2014, three years after the release of Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, the final part to the Heavenly Host Elementary School saga was released, called Corpse Party: BLOOD DRIVE for PlayStation Vita.
On May 29, 2013, about a year before Corpse Party: BLOOD DRIVE was released, the first chapter of a new project titled Corpse Party 2: DEAD PATIENT was released. Taking place five years after the conclusion of Heavenly Host Elementary School saga, it serves as the latest installment of the series.
