As the EU's Energy Efficiency Directive is transposed into national law, utilities and regulators across Europe are being challenged to find scalable programmes that drive direct savings whilst laying the groundwork for other efficiency goals. Alex Laskey, President and Founder of Opower, discussed the potential of behavioural energy efficiency programmes in Europe and how Ireland can lead the way in providing cost effective energy savings at scale.

This was the second event in the 2014 ESB lecture series, entitled Power to the People.

Alex Laskey is the President and founder of Opower, a leading Energy Efficiency software company. A Harvard graduate, who featured in Fortune's '40 under 40' young entrepreneurs, a "Technology Pioneer" at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mr Laskey's speeches on Ted Talks have received hundreds of thousands of views. Along with seven other key US industry leaders, Mr. Laskey was recently invited to meet President Obama at the White House to advise him on innovation and job creation in the green economy. In his early career, Mr. Laskey worked in politics, serving as a campaign manager, strategist and public opinion analyst.
