ABOUT THE URBAN FUTURE FORUM
On June 25th 2024, the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering hosted the Urban Future Forum, in collaboration with the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN²) and NREL. The event was designed to increase connectivity within the climatetech ecosystem, explore strategies for advancing equitable pilot projects, and accelerate the deployment of climate solutions. The full day conference consisted of four panels, this was the first panel of the event focused on building the green workforce.

PANEL: CLIMATE IS THE NEW ECONOMY: BUILDING THE GREEN WORKFORCE
The panel Climate is the New Economy: Building the Green Workforce, featured esteemed speakers:
Andrew MacCalla, CEO of Collective Energy Company; Annel Cabrera-Marus, Chief Program Officer at Green City Force; Neil Padukone, Executive Director of the NYC Manufacturing and Industrial Innovation Council at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development; and Michael Yee, Director of the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund of the Electrical Industry. This dynamic exchange will explore the current opportunities and challenges in building an equitable and skilled green workforce in the rapidly evolving climatetech industry.

This conversation was led by Dr. Carolyn Kissane, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs at New York University, and renowned expert in the geopolitics of energy, climate change, and resource security. Dr. Kissane will guide the dialogue as the panel delves into strategies for bridging the gap between workforce development and the demands of the emerging green economy.
