The Armenian Assumption Ceremony is one of Jerusalem’s lesser-known but deeply moving religious events, held annually to commemorate the Assumption of Mary. The ceremony takes place at the Tomb of Mary on the Mount of Olives, a sacred site for the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Armenian Christian community. The event combines solemn prayer, procession, and traditional Armenian liturgical rituals, creating a spiritual atmosphere that resonates with centuries of history.
Participants include Armenian clergy, worshippers, and visitors from around the world. The procession is led by the Armenian Patriarch and other high-ranking clergy, often dressed in traditional liturgical garments adorned with intricate embroidery.
