So is it better than Phuket? Id say so. If you want a less crowded tourist experiece. Still traveling in the "wet season" of Thailand, it wasn't as bad as everyone expected due to being located a little further to the south. I was in Krabi for about a week but fell a bit ill, so I didn't fully appreciate it, but some highlights include the market and the beaches (and islands). This was actually one of my favorite spots in Thailand.
-The island hopping cost me about 300 bht (split between a few people, good deal! It included really great snorkeling).
