Some of the Echo’s stiffest competition comes from Amazon itself. Amazon has two alternatives to its flagship home voice assistant devices. The Echo Dot and Amazon Tap respectively, are stripped down versions of the Amazon Echo. At prices of less than $100 and about $130 compared to the Echo’s price tag of $180, they offer functionally consistent affordable options from the Amazon brand. You still speak to Alexa and share the ability with other home assistants to operate them hands free, order food, and control home environmental settings. The value then becomes in how these alternatives differ.
It should come as no surprise that the search engine Giant Google has a home assistant device answer for Amazons’ Echo. The Google Home differs from the Echo mainly because it exists within the Google universe and benefits being able to use the search engine and other Google related devices and services. This enable the Google home to provide a contextual conversation and device portability that Echo and Alexa currently lacks. This means that the Google Assistant can Chromecast the response of a question to your TV, in addition to providing you with a daily briefing, weather update, news update, play music, and much more. At nearly $130, it sits within the mid-priced devices offered by Amazon, but with more functionality.

Finally, the iVee voice assistant is another hands-free option to connect your home and the people in it. It can function as an intercom when used with additional devices. It can also inform you of your daily schedule, initiate entertainment like musical playlist or Netflix, and still turn off the lights with a voice command. An app enables you to use iVee when you’re outside of its listening radius.
