Synco Mic D2 shootout (416, NTG5 etc)

Описание к видео Synco Mic D2 shootout (416, NTG5 etc)

(I was not given a free unit) (Bought this on Ebay with my own money for 1 hundy)

This is a more detailed review of the Synco Mic D2. I compare this microphone to the Audio Technica AT875R, the SE Electronics Se8, the Oktava Mk012/MC012, the Sennheiser E614, the Rode NTG5, the MKH 416 and the Rode Videomic Go 2.

What are my overall thoughts?

Currently this microphone goes for $199 brand new. But if you do a quick search on Ebay you can find it for about $119 (used) (or refurbished). Take a look at shipping and make sure to look for those with free shipping. But imo if you look closely you can find a few at $119 used with free shipping. And that's a pretty good price for a shotgun microphone at the price of beginner XLR mics, ie AT 2020 etc. I actually managed to get mine for about $100 by doing an offer (not a bid) and someone accepted.

Does this microphone sound like an MKH416? Not at all. Imo it lacks the same clarity as the 416. Can you use some EQ to get close? Maybe. But imo I actually found the sound of the AT875R which is a bit cheaper had a much more pleasant sound. This is subjective of course. You may think differently and that's okay :P But keep note that how a microphone is going to sound will vary from person to person. If you do get this microphone, make sure to burn the windscreen that comes with it - because it really sounds dreadful with the windscreen so it's best to remove and throw in the fires of Hades where it belongs.

And that's all I got!
