What nobody seems to know is shocking! The Edmonton Oilers will win the Stanley Cup and this is why. Everyone talks about how their defense sucks and their goaltending sucks and it's all true, but their offense is unstoppable unless you are Barkov and the Florida Panthers or unless you can outscore and outgun them and only the Colorado Avalanche can do that as they proved back in 2022 Cup run.

It doesn't matter if the Oilers are struggling on defence and goaltending because they don't have to play against the Avalanche. They only have to play against teams like the Kings, Ducks, Sharks, Kraken, Canucks, Flames...and none of those teams have enough firepower to outscore the Oilers. Vegas Golden Knights are not the same team they were when they won the cup. The Oilers easily dispatched them last year in the 2nd round in 5 games. It will be no different this year because the Oilers will face either the Kings, Ducks, Kraken, or Sharks in the first round and then meet VGK in the 2nd round and then meet the Stars in the 3rd round where they always own the Stars the past two Conference finals.

The Dallas Stars are pretenders. They have amazing regular seasons and they own the Avalanche now that they have Rantanen (ex-Avalanche and new Avalanche killer, kryptonite). This means that the top 3 teams in the Central (Avs, Stars, Wild) will have to kill each other off and most likely the Stars will own the Avs again and meet the Oilers in the CF where the Stars will choke and disappear like they always do in the CF vs Oilers.

So the Oilers will walk to the Cup finals easy peasy but this time there will be no Florida Panthers and Barkov...the only team that can smother and stop the Oilers offense. Nobody else in the East is going to be able to beat the Oilers in the best of 7.

So it's really easy folks. If the Avalanche can't get past the Stars (or even the Wild), then the Oilers will walk easily into the Cup finals for a 3rd straight year.

It's a perfect storm for the Oilers being in the weakest division and laughing stock of the NHL, the Pacific. While teams like the Sharks and Ducks are improving, it's been many years that the Oilers had a free pass in this division.

The Wild Card team in the EAST has more points than the 1st seeded team in the Pacific or even the Oilers. So it's dumb that the playoff format forces the central division 2nd and 3rd ranked team to face each other in the 1st round as both teams have more points than 1st seed in Pacific or the Oilers. Yet they have to kill each other off and Oilers will get to play one of the weak teams in the Pacific like the Kings/Ducks/Sharks in the first round.

The playoff format should go back to 1 v 8 as it used to be. It's not fair that the top 3 teams in the NHL are all stuck in the Central and have to eliminate each other in the 1st and 2nd rounds while Oilers with a lower ranking them all 3 of them get to easier opponents in the 1st and 2nd round, then the Stars in the 3rd round who just choke each year versus the Oilers.

If the Avs make it past the Stars, then the Avs will take down the Oilers quite easily like last time. But no other team in the West can handle the Oilers in a best of 7 as evident in the past couple seasons. Duh!
