Security operatives in Kogi State have thwarted a major terrorist attack in Obajana after overnight gun battles near the Dangote Cement Factory. Video from the scene shows tactical teams taking elevated positions to stop the assault, believed to be a reprisal for a recent joint military operation that neutralised more than 200 terrorists in the state. Earlier, police and military units dismantled bandit networks with aerial support from the Police Air Wing. We speak to Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, about what happened, why Obajana was targeted, and what this means for security in the region.
