On January 8, around 2:45 PM, six individuals were apprehended for transporting dogs in a suspicious manner. The suspects, reportedly residents of Meghalaya, initially admitted to selling dogs for the meat trade but later denied the claims.

An FIR has been filed at Chandmari Police Station, and an official stated that the suspects are currently under inquiry. Legal action will follow after a thorough investigation. Local residents have raised concerns, claiming that at least eight dogs have been targeted for smuggling from the area in the past 10 days.
