Hello BookTube! My name is Sydney and my bookish account goes by Sydney and Her Books. I attended my first bookish convention this August! Once Upon a Con took place in the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor in Maryland.

I've had these tickets since their release back in January 2024, and my cousin bought her ticket a few months later. We were incredibly excited to go to the fall fantasy themed masquerade, meet authors, buy merchandise, and go to panels for writing, cosplay, and more.

Unfortunately, the convention didn't go to plan. At all. I initially started vlogging the event, but very quickly realized I would need to do a sit-down video afterwards to talk about everything that happened and provide screenshots from the discord. This video took me a long time to edit, so it's being published 6 weeks after the event happened.

Everything in this video is my own personal experience, what people directly told me in person, and what I read in the discord as it was happening. I don't condone violence, but I do believe we have the right to share our experiences and expect better.
