🍽️ Park Plaza Restaurant in Brooklyn Heights is closing its doors Thursday after 42 years in business. 1010 WINS spoke with owner Dimitri Likourentzos, employees and regular customers about the impact the establishment has had on the neighborhood, with one woman calling it a "community center."

"I'm happy, I'm honored, I'm grateful," Likourentzos said. "And I love people. That's why I'm in this business, I'm not in this business because I love business, I love being around people."

The restaurant was handed down to Likourentzos by his father, a Greek immigrant from humble beginnings who built the business to serve the people around him.

"My dad was so grateful for having this opportunity, that he wanted to make sure that everybody around him never experiencing the hunger he ever felt again," he said.

Likourentzos cited a loss of business from religious tour groups and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as reasons for the restaurant's closure.
