Southampton, Hampshire.

C/Us of a surveyor "plotting" the land in order to make a map. C/Us of men at work at drawing boards putting together intricate maps. "Britain is the world's greatest map making country" announces the narrator. Various shots of maps being crafted. Large optical devices are used - a camera "as big as a fair sized room" is used to take photographs of the maps. We are at the Ordnance Survey Commission headquarters. Various shots of technicians looking at the large photographs.

Printing inks are applied to rollers and Ordnance Survey maps are printed. Shots of the printing presses as maps are produced. C/Us of various maps of parts of Britain.
