Seasons turn, resentments don’t. In the Small Council’s shadow, Rhaenyra’s anger finally bursts: “Because you mean to replace me with Alicent Hightower’s son—the boy you always wanted. You have him in your hands now; you’ve no further use for me.” Viserys meets her fury with a vow: “You have misjudged me. I did waver at one time, but I swear to you now—on your mother’s memory—you will not be supplanted.”   

And then the day that proves the promise. The doors open. A cane on stone. A gold mask glinting in torchlight. King Viserys Targaryen crosses the throne room—every step pain, every breath a choice—to stand behind his daughter when it counts. Titles thunder, but love is louder.
