Veteran saxophonist Doc Holladay combined forces with Sam Sanders, Marcus Belgrave, Ali Jackson, Charles Boles, Harold McKinney, and Jimmy Allen and other Detroit jazz legends to create an mecca of jazz studies at Oakland University - Rochester, Michigan. Most of the program participants actively fueled the Detroit jazz scene for decades. Many moved on to Jazz scenes in New York, San Francisco, and other cities. It must be said that none of this would have come together without the genius of Peter Wenger who, as was his usual, was in the right spot at the right time. But that's another story. 1/31/85
