Reedsy has a lot of great tools, especially for self-publishing authors. But what happens when you import a manuscript and Reedsy doesn't detect the chapter breaks? You'll have to split the chapters manually, and it's very easy to do.

Splitting chapters can be quite useful, even if you're using Reedsy to write your book instead of importing. Sometimes, chapters can get quite long and it would make more sense to split them up at important plot development points.

Normally, my chapters range from 3500 to 7500 words depending on what's going on at that point in the book. However, my longest ranges around 9500 words, but only because it's a massive fight scene and includes a lot of important character development details. Think of assembling the Avengers for a final fight. There are all kinds of things going on in my next book.

My point is that it's easy to split the chapters in Reedsy and the writing app will automatically adjust chapter numbers to compensate.
