Pyramid-like burial mounds or Moidams in Upper Assam showcase the glorious history of the 600-year-old Tai Ahom dynasty. The Charaideo Archaelogical site is India’s sole nomination this year for the UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The nominated property includes 90 burial mounds spread across 95.02 hectares, and a buffer zone nearby, spread across 754.51 hectares. The protected site is jointly maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Directorate of Archaeology, Government of Assam. Watch ThePrint Ground report by Karishma Hasnat.
