The gold-standard treatment for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is psycho-stimulants. However, these are associated with adverse effects, poor adherence in adolescence, and evidence for their longer-term efficacy is limited. Neuromodulation techniques, especially transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), are thought to be one treatment alternative that may have longer-term benefits with good tolerability. In this talk I will summarise the literature thus far, focusing on my recently published meta-analysis and randomised control trial investigating the efficacy of tDCS in improving cognitive or clinical outcomes in children/adolescents with ADHD.
