Vitamin D from sunlight, fish, eggs, and dairy products is also important. Taking 400-800 mg of vitamin D supplement daily and getting proteins from meat and legumes can also help prevent osteoporosis. Physical activity is another crucial factor that helps in preventing osteoporosis.

In case of osteoporosis, medicines prescribed by the doctor including calcium and vitamin D supplements can help in treating the condition. Osteoporosis weakens the bones, and causes pain, and fractures. It is common not just in women but also in men over 60 years of age. Therefore, it is important to take preventive measures and seek medical attention if any symptoms occur.
