Gaining confidence with the tire obstacle

In this lesson you’ll see Teddy demonstrate how to get your horse to “acknowledge” the obstacle (actually look at it) and how to maneuver laterally over and around the obstacle. The purpose of doing this is to get your horse to recognize. There is a benefit for them, some release time if they get their foot where you would like them to place it. It also helps to gain their balance and confidence in moving their feet into different positions on the tire so that you will eventually be able to have them walk straight across without losing balance laterally.
