TIMELINE:

November 1988 - BBC Video release The Talons Of Weng-Chiang on VHS in the UK as an edited 136 minute omnibus (BBCV4187). Twelve seconds of material is cut from episode one to satisfy BBFC guidelines, as examined in this video. The release is deleted during 1996 and the story is commercially unavailable to buy in the UK for seven years.

April 2003 - The story is finally released in complete and unedited episodic form on a double-disc DVD (BBCDVD1152). The story is later revisited on DVD with additional restoration in October 2010 (BBCDVD2806A), followed by an upscaled high-definition release as part of The Collection: Season 14 Blu-ray in 2020 (BBCVD0478).
