In this video, we take you to Ichaweri, a small but deeply historic village located in Gatundu South Constituency, Kiambu County — widely known as the home village of the Kenyatta family.

Ichaweri may be small in size, but its place in Kenya’s history is massive. This is the village that brought up two Heads of State: Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first President, and Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya’s fourth President.

As part of this journey, we also pass through Mutomo, the immediate neighbouring town to Ichaweri. The area is characterised by a calm rural setting, old structures — some dating back to the colonial era — impressive road infrastructure, and a peaceful village lifestyle that still defines this region today.

From well-maintained tarmac roads to green farms of maize and bananas, this video gives you a real feel of a village that quietly shaped Kenya’s leadership and political legacy.
