Join us on the My K12 Career Show as we welcome our distinguished guest, Dr. Reggie Wright Jr. A former professional basketball player turned educator, Dr. Wright has gained recognition, including features on CNN, for his dedication to educating and inspiring students at various levels, from elementary school to university.

Dr. Wright is renowned for his dynamic and motivational speaking style, deeply committed to inspiring young individuals to chase their dreams and objectives. Hailing from Trenton, NJ, he is familiar with the rigors of hard work and overcoming challenges. Dr. Wright's academic journey began at New Jersey City University, where he not only excelled in his studies, earning a B.S. in Computer Science, but also shone as a basketball player throughout his four-year tenure. His basketball career extended into Europe, where he played professionally after graduating.

Furthering his education, Dr. Wright obtained a master’s degree from Cairn University and completed his Ph.D. at Liberty University in Virginia. His doctoral research shed light on the role of parental involvement in reducing the educational achievement gap among Black male students. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Wright dedicates his time to teaching a 5th-grade curriculum focused on character development and social-emotional learning. He holds certifications in various evidence-based programs, including Mental Health First Aid-Youth, Social-Emotional Learning, and Character Development Curriculum.

Apart from his teaching role, Dr. Wright is a committed mentor with the organization Raising Black Men and serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit Urban Promise of Trenton. His commitment to student success is driven by strong ethical values and a passion for service. When not engaged in his professional pursuits, Dr. Wright enjoys quality time with his family, stays active with regular workouts, and is in the process of authoring his debut book.
