Weather Update: Dense Fog Prevails in Northwest India; Cessation of Northeast Monsoon Anticipated

In the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense to very dense fog is expected to persist during morning hours in isolated pockets of northwest India over the next five days. Additionally, conditions appear favorable for the cessation of the Northeast Monsoon from India around January 15, 2024.

Realized weather conditions in the past 24 hours, until 0830 hours IST of today, include minimum temperatures ranging from 5-8°C over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Cold day to severe cold day conditions were prevalent over many parts of Punjab and Haryana, with isolated cold day conditions observed in Chandigarh, Delhi, and northwest Rajasthan.
