The Last Day of the Glasgow Subway 'Legacy' Trains

Описание к видео The Last Day of the Glasgow Subway 'Legacy' Trains

A little over six months after the new Glasgow Subway trains by Stadler entered service, SPT have now decided to call time on the old second generation trains that were introduced following the first modernisation program in the late-1970s.

But, on 28th June 2024, they decided to let two of the old trains out for one last run on the loop; one on the Inner Circle and one on the Outer Circle, so I decided to take one last run before this Glaswegian staple of the last 44 years is consigned to the history books forever.

The second generation Glasgow Subway trains were built between 1977 and 1979 by Metro Cammell in Birmingham and formally entered service on 16th April 1980. Initially, they were a batch of 33 power cars that could run in two or three-car formation but, from 1991, an additional eight trailer cars were built to allow for full three-car operation on the system.
