On the 23rd of July 2024 the Dublin Area Rapid Transit or DART celebrated its 40th birthday, on the 23rd of July 1984 the 8100 class EMU built GEC and Linke-Hofmann-Busch were introduced and transformed public transport in the Dublin area in Ireland.

I have soft spot for the 8100 class and always enjoy a trip on them. They are slated for retirement in the very near future which is a great shame as they have been a staple of my childhood through to adulthood and I will sorely miss them when they are gone.
