India’s aviation sector faces serious questions after two shocking incidents at Delhi airport in just six months.

Six months ago, an 82-year-old woman with restricted mobility allegedly suffered a brain stroke after Air India denied a pre-booked wheelchair, forcing her to walk. She was hospitalised in ICU for three days, raising serious negligence concerns.

Recently, a SpiceJet passenger alleges he was physically assaulted by an Air India Express pilot for objecting to queue-cutting, witnessed by his 7-year-old daughter. The pilot has been removed from duty, and an internal probe is underway. The Civil Aviation Ministry has intervened, grounding the pilot and seeking formal reports from BCAS and CISF.

These incidents raise urgent questions: Are India’s airports and airlines failing passengers? Who is accountable when senior crew members are accused of misconduct? As India aims to be a global aviation hub, experts warn these may point to deeper systemic issues.
