Rejosari Sugar Mill, East Java, Indonesia, 16th August 1994

Twice I had taken Tjeng Chiao to Rejosari and both times, Salak had not run for him. Now the tour group had gone home, I promised it would be third time lucky. Alas, the mill was broken and there would be no trains this afternoon.
Rules are made to be broken, so off we went to the transport office and begged to borrow the loco and a few loaded loris and enjoy a trip on a field line before it inevitably closed. There was no problem but could we give them a few pictures afterwards?
Of course, it wasn't real, but 20 years on I think I can fairly say our little bit of fun will have had no consequences for later visitors.
And how much did it all cost bearing in mind a 21st century charter costs zillions? The photos would have been the most expensive part as otherwise it was just a couple of packets of kreteks and a hatful of smiles.
