The Canberra was the RAF's first jet-powered bomber. It could fly at a higher altitude than any other bomber throughout the 1950s and by 1958 it had set nineteen point-to-point speed records and three height records. It had a remarkable career spanning half a century and was finally retired from service by the RAF in 2006.
