Today’s trip is on the Kiskiminetas River in Western Pennsylvania beginning at Roaring Run and ending at Hyde Park, a distance of nine miles, a new personal best distance I have ever paddled with my new Eddyline Sitka LT. I hope sometime later this summer or fall to take a paddling camping trip on the upper Allegheny river. This would mean a downstream paddles of 8 or 9 miles. Although I had paddled my Sitka nine miles on the Shenango River in Pennsylvania one month ago, I wanted to paddle the boat on a larger and more lively river in anticipation of a trip on the Allegheny.
I am also an author of a series of memoir books, available in paperback, Kindle e-book, and some as audiobooks from Amazon. These brief narratives describe events from my youth, college years, career, and current-day life in retirement ranging from flipping baseball cards, the arrival of the ice cream man on the street, observations of the natural world, and contemplating what is true and meaningful in this life.
