Life as a Fighter Pilot in Indian Air Force - Air Commodore Harish Nayani (Retd.)

Air Commodore Harish Nayani (Retd) is a Vayu Sena Medal awardee from the 131st Pilots Course and Kilo Squadron - NDA.

He is a former LCA Test Pilot who spent many years with the Tejas program during its formative years. He was the first test pilot to fire the R-73 Missile from the Tejas in 2007. He also undertook the first flight of the Tejas PV-3.

He has also flown the MiG-21 Bison aircraft extensively and was the Commanding Officer of a Frontline fighter Squadron. He took over command of the Squadron at a critical juncture when the squadron was in the process of inducting the Bison aircraft. Air Cmde Nayani also piloted the MiG-21 trainer variant in which Defence Minister Shri. George Fernandes made his historic maiden sortie in 2003.
