This episode of LoveTalk Network features Pastor Jackie English, a leader in uniting churches to mobilize collaborative relief and recovery efforts to communities impacted by increasingly prevalent natural disasters. Jackie has been a local pastor in the Highland Lakes area of Central Texas since 1977, and he is currently Senior Pastor of Christ Redeemer Fellowship in Granite Shoals, Texas. During that time, he has also served as a founding board member of the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center for abused women and children, the Helping Center for those experiencing food insufficiency, and is currently president of the Board of Directors of Ark of Highland Lakes, a network of 40 churches dedicated to serve as one Body of Believers meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of neighbors in times of crisis and disaster.

He also worked with the Texas Legislature for 5 years on the staff of the Texas Conservative Coalition and worked with corporate business leaders for almost 15 years as the Director of Instructional Design for Baker Communications, a global corporate training company in Houston. He joined the board of United in Crisis in January of 2024. He and his wife, Peggy, have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

I’ll never forget the moment I realized the church had to do more than just pray after disasters. When our community was hit by the Highland Lakes flood, 2,400 homes were severely impacted overnight. The Red Cross and government agencies came, did what they could, and then moved on to the next crisis. But the needs didn’t end when they left. That’s when we knew — the church had to step up and stay for the long haul.
