6-speed M6R Brompton is modified to 36-speed. The increased number of speeds yields reduced changes in gear ratios when shifting, making the ride smoother. The added low gears allow you to tackle steep hills. On one regular route, I had to ride up a 27-grade slope, doable if I didn't need to stop.
