A Dark Tale of Teenage Rebellion | EP21 | True Crime Documentary

The tragic case of Jasmine Richardson and Jeremy Steinke involved the brutal murders of Jasmine's parents, Deborah and Mark, and her younger brother, Tyler, in April 2006. The Richardson family, once known for their exemplary life, saw a drastic change when Jasmine, a 12-year-old girl, became obsessed with gothic culture and online communities. She met 23-year-old Jeremy, who identified as a werewolf and had a troubled past. The two began a secret relationship, and despite concerns from Jasmine’s parents, their bond deepened.

Jasmine's parents tried to intervene by taking away her computer, but this led to a tragic plan being set into motion. On the night of the murders, Jeremy, driven by his dark thoughts and Jasmine's influence, murdered Deborah and Mark in the basement. Jasmine killed her younger brother, Tyler, upstairs. The couple then fled the scene and partied, seemingly unaffected by the gruesome killings.

The crime shocked the community, and Jasmine and Jeremy were eventually found in Saskatchewan after a manhunt. During their interrogations, Jasmine initially denied involvement, but Jeremy confessed, revealing that the murder plot was her idea. Jasmine, who had been increasingly isolated from her family, was later convicted of three counts of homicide and sentenced to 10 years in prison, following Canada’s juvenile justice laws. Jeremy, convicted of first-degree murder, received a life sentence.
