When obtaining your Captain’s License, you will be required to learn all the international regulations for preventing collisions at sea. Collision avoidance is an especially important subject when you are engaged in navigation at sea. These ship collision regulations were updated in 1972 and are still in effect internationally as collision regulations.

Now you might be thinking that you will never need these are you don’t plan on being the captain of a ship but the reality is that we are all involved in these conditions while boating and fishing and might not even realize it. If it makes it easier for you, think of the ship collision regulations as boat collision regulations.
