While sunlight contains some UV rays, its intensity and specific spectrum are generally too weak and inconsistent to fully polymerize the polygel, often resulting in a tacky, soft, or improperly cured application that lacks durability and adhesion. Heat alone also will not initiate the chemical reaction necessary for curing. For a proper, long-lasting, and safe polygel manicure, a specialized UV or LED lamp is an absolute requirement, as it provides the precise energy needed for the gel to harden completely.
